175th Anniversary of the 1st Missionary in Adelaide!

For The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Adelaide, 2015 marks
the 175th anniversary of the arrival of the first LDS church member and missionary
in Australia: Englishman William Barratt, who reached port Adelaide aboard the
Diadem on Nov 16, 1840.  A wonderful celebration was held at the Firle Stake
Center.  Members from the community were invited as well as members, missionaries,
and even many distinguished guests including His Excellency the Honourable
Hieu Van Le AO, Governor of South Australia.

It seemed fitting to commemorate the anniversary with a focus on the blessing
and privilege we have of living in South Australia; and by highlighting, through
cultural song and dance, a snapshot of the diversity of nationalities in our midst
today.

There were many fabulous groups who performed from all areas of the world, but
of course our favorite was a few of our own missionaries singing a very tender
version of "How Great Thou Art", Polynesian style. Thank you for sharing your
great talents with us.  Elder Matekohi, Elder Pitama, Elder Togia on the guitar,
Elder Gray and President and Sister Paewai, Sister Graham, Sister Craig, Sister
Lee-Lo, and Sister Gray.
